In this lesson we will build on the ideas of circles from week 4 and make the connection from expanding circles to expanding collections of things.  Just like our circles of people are important for us, we are going to introduce the visual metaphor of collecting things. People, both adults and children, enjoy collecting different things. We explore some different examples and discuss why people have collections. We use this discussion and concept to introduce the importance of relationships in our lives and how all of us have a collection of relationships as well that help us in different ways. Recognizing and using our own collection or relationships is an important strategy that helps us throughout our lives.

We would love any feedback on this lesson!

  • What can we do to make it easier to teach?
  • How does the age/developmental appropriateness feel for Pre-k and K?
  • Do you have any feedback on the activities?
  • Are there any other resources that you would like to see here?
